Bees, Trees & Me, 24 May

Bees, Trees & Me poster

There’s a buzz around Highbury Park in May!

HPF, Highbury Orchard Community, Bee Keepers and friends invite you to Bees, Trees and Me, an artful celebration of bees and community, in the park on Saturday 24th May, 12-4 pm.

There will be activities for all ages, including beehive inspections, making a grand bug hotel, poetry, wordplay and picnic, skep weaving and waggle dancing, plus who knows what other surprises on the day!

It’s free, with opportunities to donate to voluntary groups and other projects.

That said, we also need your help…

to join in and help create something special;

to collect materials for making the bug hotel;

…and to give the bug hotel a name! Will it be a Buzzotel, a Four Seasons? Your ideas are needed to give it the best possible name, so we will have a contest for it!

For further info and a list of suggested materials, please look here. The page will be updated as details develop. If you have a wagonload of materials, please phone Liz on 0121 628 2680 first, to check that we can use it.

This collaborative event is the work of artists Alexandra Lockett, Gillian & Jake Lever, poets Mandy Ross and Joanna Skelt, Highbury Orchard Community, Highbury Park Friends, Birmingham Bee Keepers Association, our friends in the Parks & Rangers service, and You!
