Out & About: Coppicing Sessions

The new Out & About is ready, so I’ve lifted the listing for Highbury Park.

The first one is at short notice, and requires booking, so this announcement may not be of much use to you – but there are still plenty of opportunities!

Practical Conservation Tasks
Saturday 12 January 10am – 12:30pm first session,
1.15 – 3pm second session
Join the Assistant Ranger to help carry out coppicing
work in the woodland. Join us for one or both sessions. Please
wear suitable clothing. Meet at the car park. Booking essential.

Den Building
Saturday 16 February 11am – 1pm
Come down to Highbury Park and make a den using woodland
materials. This is a family activity. Booking essential.

Up Up and Away
Sunday 2 March 11am – 1pm
Come and make a kite out of recycled household materials.

Bat and Moth Night
Sunday 27 April 7.30pm
Join the Friends of Highbury Park and the
Assistant Ranger for an evening of bat watching and
moth trapping in the park. Booking essential.

Orange Tips and Holly Blues
Saturday 24 May 12.30 – 2pm
The UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme. Join the
Assistant Ranger for a walk, recording the butterflies of
Highbury Park. Booking essential.

Springwatch: Do One Thing – Bug Houses
Sunday 29 June 1pm – 3pm
Bugs might not look like particularly significant visitors to your
garden, but they’re vital to keeping the ecosystem working. If
you want to help them get through the hard times, come down
to Highbury Park and make a bug house. Booking essential.
