    A walk around Hopyard Meadow – July 11th 2021

    You are invited to a walk around Hopyard Meadow ( the field above the car park at Highbury) with Jake Williams of Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust on July 11th, 10.30am – 12.00pm. We will look at wildflowers and pollinators and also visit the orchids growing in our hay meadow. Everyone welcome. The event is free of charge.     Chair of Chamberlain Highbury Trust

    Next year the Chamberlain Highbury Trust will have been established for six years and it will be time for the Chair, Les Sparks, and a few of the trustees to stand down.  The Trust is currently launching a recruitment drive to bring in a new Chair and Trustees.  They plan to appoint a Chair designate by the summer to shadow Les for nine months until he leaves in March 2022.  A recruitment document has been prepared that spells out the objectives and challenges for the Trust looking ahead, with details of the application process and timetable.  The details can be found at: https://chamberlainhighburytrust.co.uk/recruitment-of-chair-of-trustees/

    Highbury Park Litter Picking Trail

    During Lockdown there were many more visitors than usual to Highbury. This also meant there was a huge increase in the amount of litter left behind. We are trying to look at new ways of tackling this. Together with our partners Highbury Orchard and Ecobirmingham we are pleased to launch our new Highbury Park Litter Picking Trail. It aims to educate young people about the perils of litter and is packed with activities you can do to help reduce litter.     2020 City Nature Challenge

    We had organised two events for the City Nature Challenge which takes place between Friday 24th April to 27th April. We are asked to record any plants, wild animals or birds that we spot during this time period. We had hoped you would be able to join us at Highbury to take part. As we have had to cancel all our events the good news is you can take part on your own from your own garden. Either download the i-Naturalist app to your mobile phone or tablet and use it to record or send a list of what you’ve spotted to enquiries@ecorecord.org.uk The city nature challenge is a competition…
